Amir Moore

My story

From a young age, I was able to read various books on astronomy and space and I also enjoyed a lot of movies about space such as Star Wars. This helped spark an interest in physics. I want to help discover new planets and solar systems and possibly work at an observatory. My plan is to get my master’s and Ph.D. in either astronomy or astrophysics and pursue a job at either a government lab or an observatory.

Currently, I have completed two internships at Brandeis University, both of them working on bio-physics projects. In my department, I have completed optics research using laser spectroscopy to characterize rare earth-doped crystals for military applications.

This award was impactful for me due to the heavy financial burden placed on my single mom. She has helped me so much in all aspects of life. Thanks to God and this scholarship I was able to be financially cleared multiple years in a row to continue my education and rise up.
