Destiny Howell
Destiny Howell recently graduated from CUNY Hunter College with a bachelor’s degree in physics with high honors. She was awarded the Jenny Hunter Scholarship, TEAM-UP Together Scholarship, and NYC STEM Talent Fund Scholarship for her outstanding academic achievements. During her time at Hunter College, she engaged in four research opportunities: twice at the Flatiron Institute - Center for Computational Astrophysics through AstroCom NYC, as well as at the University of Texas at Austin for Astronomy research and Stony Brook University for Physics REU.
In addition to her passion for physics, Destiny developed a strong interest in business and entrepreneurship. During her final spring semester, she participated in the Driving Forward Program, where she played a consulting role in business case development and presentations with her corporate sponsor, PwC. In the Summer of 2024, Destiny was selected to complete the Johns Hopkins Summer Business Academy, where she competed in Amazon’s case study and achieved 3rd place. She also won 1st place in the 2024 Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp at the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources.
Looking ahead, Destiny aspires to enter the field of space physics and will be pursuing a PhD at the University of Texas, San Antonio Southwest Research Institute (UTSA-SWRI). Beyond academics and research, she is an art enthusiast who enjoys painting, drawing, creating collages, and visiting art museums and galleries. In her free time, she also enjoys running, biking, kayaking, ziplining, and traveling.
