My story
Physics has always been my passion since I was a kid. I remember looking up planet and space facts for fun while everyone was playing computer games; it’s just always been something special for me. I would like to do black hole research and white hole theory. I want to get my bachelor’s, then take it a step further so I can get my astrophysics degree.
I’ve worked on phosphoproteins in the MCAC lab at UMBC, and I’ve worked on the SASA program at Morgan State. I also attended the GEM conference last year in Hawaii.
I’m a student from a lower-income neighborhood/household. For a while, after I had to withdraw, plans for higher education seemed like something I would have to leave in the past because I simply did not have the means to support myself and go to school. This scholarship literally gave me hope that this is not over and maybe a little Black girl can achieve her dreams in science.
