LaNell A. Williams is an Associate Research Scholar (ASR) at Princeton University from Memphis, TN. She currently studies the fundamental physics of algae. She earned her PhD from Harvard University in 2023 studying virus self-assembly. LaNell earned a B.S. in Physics from Wesleyan University, where she was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. She went on to complete her master’s degree at Fisk University, where she won the NSF GRFP. While at Harvard, she received the Harvard University Physics Department’s David J Robbins Prize and founded an education non-profit (the Women+ of Color Project). From January 2019 to December 2023, she served on the American Physical Society Council & Board of Executives, representing the Forum on Graduate Student Affairs. LaNell currently studies the fundamental physics of algae.
