Layla Smith

Since my younger years, I have yearned to learn the “why” behind our existence and the things that surround us. It was the physics courses I took in high school that directed my plans for college and further cemented my love for the wonders of science. Thus, I decided to enroll in the illustrious Norfolk State University as a physics student.

Physics is present in everything we do. Even now, as you sit here reading this, the laws of physics dance around you. Majoring in this field will set the foundation for any science-specific field I decide to make a career in, whether that be astronomy, particle physics, or astrophysics; majoring in physics will equip me with the wisdom and skills that are needed to be a knowledgeable scientist.

I am passionate about continuing my studies on the secrets within our reality and how we can utilize their gifts for the betterment of humanity.

Within the next year, I will be attending graduate school to obtain my master’s degree and/or Ph.D. in physics. I plan to continue pursuing various research endeavors geared toward quantum physics and/or astronomy.
