Scholarships

The TEAM-UP Together Scholarship Program is your launchpad to a degree in physics and astronomy! Submit your application by May 23.
How does it work?

    1. Complete and submit your application by May 23, 2025. See below for application details.

    2. The TEAM-UP Together Scholarship Review Committee will consider three factors when reviewing your application:

    • Your commitment to pursuing a bachelor’s degree in physics or astronomy
    • Your level of financial need
    • Your responses to the application questions

    3. If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will be notified prior to the next academic semester.

    4. You will be asked to submit a completed W-9 federal tax form (or equivalent for international students) and an automatic deposit form so that you can receive your funds.

    5. Selected applicants will receive scholarship funds prior to the Fall semester.

    Application Details

    To access the online application, you will first be asked to create an account. After creating an account, you will see several short sections that make up your portion of the application, including four short answer personal statements. All sections must be completed and submitted to be considered. You will be able to save and edit your application before submitting.

    1. Applicant Information

    This section consists of a general information form. You will need to input your contact information, statement of financial need, school and course details, personal statements, and activities.

    2. Transcript

    Upload a PDF copy of your most recent transcript.

    This can be an unofficial copy but must be from the term prior to which you are applying for the scholarship. If you are unable to upload your transcript, you may email the file to scholarships@teamuptogether.org with the subject line: Transcript - [Student Name].

    3. Letter of Recommendation

    You should request a recommendation from a faculty member or research advisor who is familiar with your work as a student. In particular, your recommender should address:

    • Your progress toward a physics or astronomy degree
    • Your potential for continued scholastic development in physics or astronomy
    • Your financial need (optional)

    Submission

    Once all the application sections are marked complete, your application will automatically be moved to the Review Stage for consideration of the award. As a reminder, you will have to manually mark your Recommendation Section as complete after the recommendation is received to have your application advance to being reviewed.

    Review

    Once your application is under review, our reviewers will assess the quality of your application for attention to detail, a compelling narrative that distinguishes you from other applicants, a passion for physics or astronomy, and an awareness of the barriers that exist within these fields for some students, academics, and professionals alike. Your ability to speak to these components in a vulnerable, courageous, and intellectually rigorous manner are taken under great consideration during the review process.

    Scholarship Processing Documents

    You will be asked to upload financial documentation, such as a W-9 or W-8 form and a direct deposit form, to help expedite your scholarship award processing and payment, should you be selected. If you are not selected, your documents are archived. Note that there is a forfeiture agreement that if these forms are not completed and submitted for processing your award, the funds will be given to the next eligible student for selection.
